MARANG: The Road Transport department’s community outreach programme has reached more than 27,000 people in rural areas nationwide.

Department director-general Datuk Solah Mat Hassan said the programme dubbed 1Community 1JPJ, has received tremendous response from the people in the rural areas since it was launched in 2009.

“Each state department has been tasked to organise three of such programmes, targeting those in the rural areas especially those 40-year-old and above.

“We have managed to encourage good driving habits among the people as well as providing driving licences for them,” he told newsmen after launching the programme in Kampung Pengkalan Berangan here recently.

He said the programme also aimed at providing services for those in the rural areas as it was hard for them to go into town given the distance and inconvenience.

“Among the services provided are the issuing of driving licences, checking the status of blacklisted motorists as well as talks on proper driving habits.

“The programme has enabled us to engage the rakyat in a much closer basis, thus strengthening our bond,” he said.

Terengganu Road Transport department director Abdul Rahman Emang Anyie said the programme was important as it involved not only department personnel and public but also the respective community leaders as well.

“We are able to understand the problems faced by the people through such programmes. It is also our aim to reduce accidents by educating the public,” he said.

He said they have also targeted the orang asli to create the awareness.

Abdul Rahman said the department was committed to serve the public by providing an efficient service.

Jaga kesihatan jantung sedari awal - Rosmah

Hadir sama Pengerusi jawatankuasa penganjur, Senator Datuk Rahman Bakar; Timbalan Menteri Kesihatan, Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin; Timbalan Menteri Sumber Manusia, Senator Datuk Maznah Mazlan dan Presiden Moshpa, Datuk Kanagaraja Raman.
